A mutual love of four legged friends has created a firm foundation for the mutual business interests of two Leicestershire women. Adrienne Vaughan of AVA PR was researching training for her team based in Aylestone, Leicester, when she came across The Leadership and Management Training Co Ltd and its CEO Mary Brooks.

Not only impressed with the company’s comprehensive range of courses and qualifications, combined with an unusual and innovative approach to training, Adrienne was also intrigued to discover that a percentage of all of The LMT’s profits is donated to animal charities. As just some of the animals in her life feature three Cocker Spaniels, a cat and a horse, further investigation revealed that Mary was planning to open a canine hostel with a difference, where dogs that have been abandoned or bereaved are re-homed, to spend the rest of their days in happy, healthy, luxury. This confirmed that Adrienne had found a training company with not only energy and enthusiasm but also policies and philosophies she and her team could embrace.

A relatively new company, The LMT metamorphosed in 2005 from Emjay Consulting, which Mary had been operating since 2000, having spent a career in training in-house for a number of national blue chip companies. Now with six full time employees and up to 35 specialist professional trainers working for the organisation throughout the UK, Europe and Central Asia on a wide variety of projects, The LMT looks poised to become one of most successful training organisations in the East Midlands.
AVA has appointed The LMT to handle all the consultancy’s training needs including The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) accredited training at all levels, up to Level 7, equivalent to a Masters Degree. The LMT has also delivered bespoke Project Management and Professional Presentation courses for AVA and its clients, and has an ongoing remit to continue to provide training and mentoring as part of AVA’s commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPDs).
“Management training is an industry blighted with jargon and acronyms. The LMT speaks my language, it delivers creative solutions to everyday business problems in a pragmatic and entertaining way. It gives my team the tools to handle day-to-day business, and supports me in my efforts to be a better senior manager.” Said Adrienne, “What’s more, when I invest in my team and our future as a company, I know I am doing some small good for abandoned or abused animals. Well, isn’t that what friends are for?!”
